November 2003
Won a set of Wolfrace alloys on an eBay auction. These will sit in the workshop until I can decide what to do with them.
Visited the Lotus Parts Fair at the Stoneleigh Showground in search of a pair of front seats. Bought a rear fibreglass bumper, a braided fuel line for the Weber carbs and a set of new spacer plates (having discovered that three of mine are cracked). Saw a couple of sets of early plus 2 seats that were sold; one very sorry looking seat for £25 and a reasonable pair that the seller was asking £500 pounds for. Finally saw a notice for a complete oatmeal interior. Had a look at it and asked the vendor if he was prepared to split it. Sadly he wasn't... He asked me what I was prepared to pay for the seats and I told him £100 which he gladly accepted for the whole lot! Everything will now go off for recovering in black in the next couple of weeks.
Dropped the interior off with the upholsterer on the 29th. Bled the brakes and the clutch. Still had problems in starting the engine, so I stripped it, fitted the new carb spacers and reset the static timing. With Ben turning the key and me jiggling the throttle, the motor started. Notice that the engine was only firing on two cylinders. Found that there was a good spark at no.1 & 2 but no fuel. Removed the carbs ready for inspection and overhaul. Cleaned up and lubricated the seat runners.
Jobs still to do this year: Interior to be recovered and fitted Electrics to be sorted for MOT Torque Suspension bolts to spec
Jobs to do next year: Paint Rewire New dash |
